The built-in download manager that comes with most web browsers is not necessarily the best solution for managing your transfers, especially if you need to handle multiple files at the same time. Folx is a Mac app that comes with a modern design and aims at making the entire experience a lot better.
Web browser integration
The Folx installation process is reduced to a simple drag and drop to the Applications folder, but, for your convenience, the app also offers you the possibility to install browser extensions (Safari, Google Chrome, Firefox, and Opera are supported) designed to streamline the downloads addition process.
Of course, the plug-ins installation is optional and it can be activated whenever you want via the Preferences window. However, if you decide to remove Folx from your system, make sure to use the “Uninstall” option from the Help menu to make sure all components are removed correctly.
Intuitive user interface
Folx comes with a modern design and you will find your way around the application soon enough: the main area is reserved for the downloads list and via the right panel you can sort them by tags. Further sorting options are placed in the bottom toolbar: all, active, paused, scheduled, or completed.
Download customization options
In the Folx Preferences window you can specify how many tasks can be active at the same time, the default user agent, you can choose to disable or enable the “New task” window when adding a new download, or set up the default action when all downloads are completed.
Furthermore, you can set up HTTP, HTTPS, or SOCKS proxies, adjust the Scheduler activation time (available only in the Pro version), put up speed limits, add new tags to the list, or adjust torrents related settings.

Folx proposes simple solutions for quickly sending downloads to an intuitive user interface that allows you to easily manage your transfers. All in all, Folx will prove an useful addition if you need to handle a large number of downloads at the same time.
